5 Must-Visit Cities of the United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is a country rich in culture and history. It’s not an easy place to visit, but it is worth the effort if you want to experience something different from your own home. The UK has many great cities that are perfect for vacationing or even living in! I’ve put together 5 of my favourite cities that I think everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime.

1. London

The capital of the United Kingdom, London is full of culture and history. There are many great museums to visit all over this city where you can learn about everything from the evolution of humanity to art in modern times. If you like shopping, there’s no better place. Every day I go out with my friends for at least one retail therapy session in Oxford Street or Regent Street (the best places for shopping). At night time, we often head out clubbing because let’s face it.

London has some awesome clubs that never disappoints when it comes to music and atmosphere. You’ll be able to experience amazing food too if you’re looking forward to exploring different cultures through their cuisine. Even though England is for its fish & chips, you can find restaurants from all over the world in London.

2. Edinburgh

I’d have to say that Edinburgh is my favourite city in the United Kingdom, probably because it reminds me so much of where I’m from. This gorgeous little European-like city has a lot for visitors to do and see.

There are many castles scattered around this area which you can visit or just admire their architecture while walking around town taking photos with your friends. If history interests you, then there are plenty of museums here as well where you can learn about everything from Scottish culture through centuries ago to art throughout time.

If shopping’s what gets you going, don’t worry! You’ll find all sorts of shops selling different products near Princes Street Arcade including food stores if cooking is more your thing (yum yum). The nightlife in Edinburgh is also very lively with restaurants, bars and clubs to go to. Just make sure you bring your camera for all the great photo opportunities you’ll be getting.

3. Glasgow

I haven’t had the chance to visit Glasgow as much as I’d like but from what I’ve seen, it’s definitely a city that deserves to be on this list. It has everything from great shopping areas (including Buchanan Galleries and St. Enoch Centre) to interesting museums (like Riverside Museum and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum) to an amazing nightlife scene.

There are also some beautiful parks located in different parts of the city if you’re looking for a place to relax or take a walk with your friends/family. One of my favourite things about Glasgow is that it’s not as touristy as London or Edinburgh which makes it feel more authentic and less commercialized. If you’re looking for an urban city break that has it all, Glasgow is the place for you.

4. Manchester

Manchester is a city that’s often underrated but it definitely deserves more attention. It has everything from great shopping areas (including the Trafford Centre) to interesting museums (like the Museum of Science and Industry) to an amazing nightlife scene.
